Testimonials

“Charna provided a safe container for us to BE with all of our emotions and reactions. She was constantly moving from one of us to the other, providing containment, support through touch, gaze and words, while never abandoning the other in spirit. She followed our lead and gently pushed us to enter the darkest scariest places while encouraging a constant sense of self-preservation and self-management.”

What you’ll get out of working with me

People of all developmental stages and ages have benefited from my combined training in the principles of aikido, energetics, meditation and somatic coaching and psychotherapy. With an understanding of your somatic shape and automatic responses in relationship, we can build practices that support your healing and help you create the life you want.

While each session may look different, there are three consistent components: talking, standing practices and bodywork. Some sessions you may remain seated while we develop bodily awareness through conversation and mindfulness. Other times you will be invited to do an experiential exercise originating out of Aikido to familiarize us with how your life experiences have shaped you.

Types of sessions

Individual: Individual Sessions are 50 or 90 minutes, depending on what is requested. I work with clients on a weekly basis to support you from falling back into habitual patterns. The work we do disorganizes and reorganizes you in new ways that can be disorienting, which is why it’s important to commit to weekly sessions. Your body will search for homeostasis (what is most familiar). Especially in the beginning of our work getting those external cues through regular practice is important.

Couples, family and friends: Couples family and friends sessions are 90 minutes or two hours. I facilitate conversation for part of the time and the rest is spent in physical practices that build relational skills. While working with a couple I may also ask to see you alone for partial or whole sessions.

Even if you come in for individual work, you might want to bring in a family member or your partner for some sessions. Often couples and families want to work somatically to learn more about their co-created nonverbal dynamic and automatic reactions. This gives you a common language and set of tools to practice new ways of relating. When you begin to change it can be challenging for those around you. Having their support and understanding makes change easier.
Rates are different than individual sessions.

Phone sessions: Phone sessions are 50 minutes or 90 minutes. Even though we are not in the same room I work with a body-centered approach. These sessions consist of psychotherapeutic conversation, body awareness exercises, grounding meditation, breathing exercises and energy work.
