My central commitment is to empower youth and adults to live more
passionately and educate them about “whole” sexuality
and intimate relationships.
I am a Registered Marriage & Family Therapist Intern, in private
practice in San Francisco, under Holistic Therapy Center, supervised
by Mary Owen, MFT # 14190.
Who I work with:
Over the past 15 years, I worked in a variety of schools and nonprofits as a teacher, trainer, counselor and workshop leader. In private practice, I work with individuals, couples, families and groups. I specialize in working with trauma survivors and have over a decade of experience as a sexuality educator.
How I work:
People of all developmental stages and ages have benefited from my combined training in the principles of aikido, energetics, meditation and coaching, with somatic psychotherapy. Recognizing that we all react out of habit in challenging situations, I offer concrete practices that build the necessary skills to intervene in these habitual reactions, make new choices and live a more present, engaged and fulfilling life.
My credentials:
In addition to receiving my certification as a Master Somatic Coach from the Strozzi
Institute and my Masters in Integral Counseling Psychology from The California Institute
for Integral Studies, I am an Advanced Somatics and Trauma graduate in Generative
Somatics. I also co-lead a rites of passage group for adolescent girls through Stepping
Stones Project.

Testimonials
"Charna has a way of letting me know I am respected and in control of the pace of the work; this allows me to feel safe enough to keep exploring. Through this work, I have experienced compassion in my body; I am more able to stay present when painful feelings arise, have become more relaxed, less anxious, and more patient towards myself and others."
—buddhist practitioner, age 41
"Charna has assisted me in releasing the trauma from my spinal cord injury, through her presence, touch, and insight. She has helped me rediscover my sensations and I'm learning to extend myself towards cultivating new and existing relationships and expanding my sense of community necessary for my own healing."
